St Mary's Missions and Charities Group

This small band of 6 people has been responsible for organising functions and fundraising for the Missions and Charities donations from St. Mary’s Church Silchester throughout the year.
We have to thank people from the Church, the Village, and the many visitors from farther afield for their support over the year with teas, cakes and donations. Also, and the most important, the gift of their time, particularly during the busy month of August, and with the Lent and Advent lunches in our church.

During 2015 and to Easter 2016 we gave to the following charities: Faith Missions Reading £ 300.00 Palm Sunday Collection £ 236.95 (sent to Bishop’s Charity for Syrian Refugees) Mission Aviation Fellowship £1,000.00 (Proceeds from August teas in Church) Challenge Ministries Swaziland £ 618.12 (equipment for water supply system in Lavumisa) Total raised: £2155.07 The August tea money this year went to Baynard’s Zambia Trust.
